2011 Reserve Riesling

Heart & Hands 2011 Reserve Riesling is made from grapes grown by the following select vineyards in New York's Finger Lakes Viticultural Area:

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of white peaches and honeysuckle tantalize the nose.  Hints of honeydew melon and tangerine emerge on the mid-palate, followed by  a burst of key lime and slate on the finish.  Pairs beautifully with seared scallops and grilled trout.

The Vintage:

A moist winter was followed by a seasonal bud break, a June bloom, and a warm Summer.  Autumn brought two hurricanes, significant rainfall in September, and a warm, dry October.  Harvested fruit was whole cluster basket pressed and chilled.  Fermentation lasted 84 days at 58° and some batches were stopped before dryness in order to retain varietal character and vibrancy.
